چکیده

These days, many WiFi devices are trying to generate high throughput and have longer signal coverage which also bring unnecessary signal interference to neighboring wireless networks, and result in decreased network throughput. Signal interference could be minimized by reducing signal coverage of wireless devices. On the other hand, small signal coverage means low transmission power and low data throughput. In the paper, we analyze the relationship among signal strength and network throughput by simulation.

Exploiting temporal and spatial variation for WiFi interference avoidance in ZigBee networks

In the Internet of Things (IoT), different wireless technologies will be used to build various micro-systems, which result mutual interference among these micro-systems. Specifically, ZigBee networks share the 2.4GHz ISM band with WiFi but have much lower transmission power. Therefore, the ZigBee networks inevitably suffer the interference from WiFi Networks. Unlike previous approaches that foc...

Enabling Coexistence of ZigBee and WiFi

Spectrum scarcity is known to be main obstacle to scaling of wireless network capacity. Spectrum sharing is a solution to this problem. The unlicensed ISM band is getting crowded by WLAN and WPAN users and devices. Spectrum sharing within the devices of same network is not a problem. But coexistence of WLAN and WPAN (eg: WiFi and ZigBee) is a challenging problem. Spectrum sharing among these ne...

WiPLUS: Towards LTE-U Interference Detection, Assessment and Mitigation in 802.11 Networks

We propose WiPLUS – a system that enables WiFi to deal with the stealthy invasion of LTE-U into the frequency bands used by WiFi. Using solely MAC layer information extracted passively, during runtime, out of the hardware registers of the WiFi NIC at the WiFi access point, WiPLUS is able to: i) detect interfering LTE-U signals, ii) compute their dutycycles, and iii) derive the effective medium ...

WiFiNetMon: Interference Measurement in Long Distance WiFi Mesh Networks

Over the past few years long distance WiFi links have emerged as a viable option to provide connectivity to rural regions. Its cost effectiveness compared to wired networks has been particularly attractive. However, networks consisting of such links has been a topic of research only recently. As a result, although several long distance WiFi deployments exist, little has been done in the area of...

PHY and MAC layer Modeling of LTE and WiFi RATs

We consider LTE and WiFi networks in order to model both PHY and MAC layers. Our physical layer abstraction consists a mapping between user’s SINR and their corresponding rate. On the other hand, we will propose a proper queue model to represent the schedulers of each radio access technique (RAT), at the MAC layer.
